Performing Item-Level Restore from an Image-Based Backup using MSP360 Managed Backup

Regular image-based backups are crucial for ensuring business continuity in the event of system failure. With this type of backup, you can quickly restore your system, including files, applications, and preferences, to minimize downtime.

In addition to restoring an entire system with an image-based backup, sometimes you may only need to restore a single file or folder. MSP360 Managed Backup allows you to easily restore individual items from your backup dataset, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.

  1. Open the MSP360 Managed Backup agent on the backed-up machine and navigate to the Backup Storage tab to see a list of all your storages with saved backups.
  2. Once you’ve located the image that contains the item you want to restore, select it and click on the “Restore” button. This will open the Restore Wizard, which will guide you through the process of restoring your item.
  3. Expand the restore point contents in the MSP360 Managed Backup agent to find the item you want to restore.
  4. Open MSP360 Managed Backup agent and go to the Backup Storage tab.
  5. Clicking Quick Restore opens a new window where you can specify the restore destination.

Clicking on “Select Folder” will prompt MSP360 Managed Backup to initiate a one-time restore plan for the selected item.

After the one-time restore plan is created, MSP360 Managed Backup will restore the selected item to the destination folder you specified. The restore plan will run and once completed, the item will be available in the specified folder. The restore plan will be deleted automatically after completion.

In conclusion, MSP360 Managed Backup offers a simple and quick process for restoring individual files or folders from an image-based backup. With just a few clicks, you can extract the specific item you need without having to restore the entire image.
